The Butler – Train45 Character Guide

The owl butler runs the rest-point shop, marks lost-item cars, and is the fifth romance target listed on Steam. Human form appears after chapter 4; affection comes from opening chests, not from dialogue gifts.

Who the Butler Is

Steam lists five female characters you can pursue aboard Train45. Four have dedicated romance pages — Reina, Mai, Konial, and Pazuzu. The fifth is the owl butler who staffs every rest-point shop. She begins as a talking owl and takes human form after chapter 4, then unlocks H-scenes from chapter 5 once affection reaches the first gate.

She sells route-hint items, lost-item markers, and late-game equipment. Raising her affection expands shop stock and unlocks the Butler's Love achievement. The tutorial achievement Shopping Trip fires the first time she helps you clear an anomaly.

Unlike the four main companions, the butler does not sit in the starting car for chat events. Visit her at rest points between chapter assignments. Voice lines follow the Voice Volume slider after the v1.0.4.x hotfix — if shop dialogue drowns out anomaly audio, lower Voice and keep Master/SFX high. See Controls.

How to Raise Butler Affection

Maximum affection is Lv2. From chapter 4 onward, open every chest (🎁) in anomaly cars. Each chest grants about +4 butler affection, and the same chest can be farmed across revisits. Chest cars are marked in the Anomaly Catalog.

There are 11 Lost Item Boxes from the second half of chapter 4. They feed both butler affection and the Lost & Found Center achievement. Optional shop hints — Lost Item Location Hint -1- / -2- / -3- (1,500 / 2,500 / 4,000 tickets) — paint those cars on the phone map. You can still find every box without buying hints.

Do not waste early tickets on cosmetics. Buy the first two lost-item hints after chapter 4, then spend the rest on terminal hints for destinations 9–19. Track remaining chests with the Anomaly Checklist.

Shop, Terminals, and Achievements

Items 1–8 drop from the first eight terminal cars. Items 9–19 are butler shop purchases. Item 20 arrives through the story. Guessing terminal codes before you own the matching hint usually fails — buy the hint, then enter the numbers. Full codes live on Puzzle Solutions and Terminal Routes.

Achievement overlap: Butler's Love (max affection), Shopping Trip (first assisted clear), Everything Sold Out (buy every shop listing), and Lost & Found Center (all 11 boxes). Plan a dedicated shopping pass after late terminals raise ticket income. See all 20 achievements.

Chapter 6 players chasing the true ending should still visit the butler: the poster beside her stall prints 8 / 31, two of the four numbers on Konial’s Memo. Details are on the True Ending guide.
