Train45 Demo vs Full Release

The Steam demo covers chapters 1 and 2 plus a slice of chapter 3. This page expands the comparison: which routes work, which scenes are missing, and whether your demo save carries into the paid release.

Demo Chapter Coverage

The free Steam demo includes:

  • Chapter 1 fully (cars 1–10, including Car 8 Flight and Car 10 Reverse Direction).
  • Chapter 2 partially (cars 11–20, ending before Car 21 XXX).
  • One chapter-3 prologue scene (car 27 Mist teaser).

The full release adds chapters 3–6 (cars 21–57), the phone map, the butler shop, true ending route 8-31-45-54, and all numbered shop items 02–08.

Does Demo Save Carry Over?

Steam Cloud saves do not transfer from the demo to the paid release. The demo uses a separate save folder (%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\TrainNumber45Demo\), while the full release uses %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\TrainNumber45\.

If you want to keep your demo progress, you must replay chapters 1–2 in the paid version. Most players accept this — chapter 1 takes under 30 minutes.

The Save Files guide documents the file layout and backup procedures.

Achievements in the Demo

The Steam demo grants zero achievements, even though several demo-specific events could qualify (chapter 1 clear, Reina Lv3, Mai Lv2). Achievements are locked to the full release's Steam app ID.

Players who want to test achievement triggers should play the full release — the demo is purely a content preview.

Is the Demo Worth Playing in 2026?

Yes if:

  • You want to verify the game runs on your hardware before buying.
  • You are undecided between Reina and Mai (the demo lets you start both routes).
  • You want to experience the Tanabata snow scene before committing.

Skip the demo if:

  • You already plan to buy the full release — the demo is mostly chapter 1+2.
  • You want achievements or cloud saves (demo has neither).
  • You are hunting the true ending (demo cannot unlock it).
